They say there's no place like home. For Duncan Yoon '04, who taught English in South Korea on a Fulbright award in 2004-2005, there was no place like Outback Steakhouse.
"I found myself searching for points of reference, people or places I could count on to give me some semblance of familiarity," he said. "It was weird how American junk food became so centering."
Yoon was one of eight students from DePauw to receive the prestigious Fulbright award for students from the United States in the last three years. The success of graduates like Yoon has inspired a record number of DePauw applicants for the 2007-2008 process.
DePauw Fulbright Advisor Douglas Harms reports that 16 students completed the application by the Oct. 1 deadline, twice as many as last year.
